Between Myth and Light: Ivan Lambrov at the International Glass Art Exhibition 2026

From  31 July to 16 October 2026. Waldmuseum Zwiesel in Germany presents the International Glass Art Exhibition 2026, dedicated to the theme “Mystical Creatures and Mythical Beings”.

The exhibition turns its attention to the world of myths, legends and the supernatural, and to the ways in which contemporary artists reinterpret them through glass. The organisers emphasise the relationship between nature, imagination and artistic craftsmanship, encouraging diverse cultural interpretations of mythological and folkloric imagery.

Among the selected works is the sculpture by Bulgarian artist Ivan Lambrov — “Enchanted Kingdom after the Fairy Tales of Nikolay Raynov.” .

The work is inspired by the rich symbolic and mythological world of Nikolay Raynov. Rather than illustrating a specific fairy tale, Ivan Lambrov creates his own sculptural vision of an “enchanted kingdom” — a space between reality and imagination.

The transparency, layered colour and relief structure of the glass evoke a hidden world that gradually reveals itself through light. The forms can be perceived simultaneously as natural structures, fantastical beings and traces of a mythological reality.

In this way, the work introduces a Bulgarian and Balkan cultural perspective into the international exhibition — one in which nature, myth and the idea of the invisible exist in constant dialogue.
